The money note

Compare the whole bill.

Start with what a quoted price includes and what comes after it.

A program fee may be only part of it

In a September 2026 check of selected national online weight services, most charged a membership and billed medicine separately.

Have the quote show each charge on its own: the visit or membership, the medicine, testing, and delivery. Add any fees for ongoing visits and help between visits.

Get written confirmation of any charge for an assessment that leads to no medicine prescription.

Keep medicine prices in context

As of September 2026, most drug-company advertisements for selected weight and diabetes medicines quoted about $149 to $499 per month for people paying without insurance.

Some medicine strengths and late refills cost more; these were medicine prices, rather than quotes for a complete care program.

A medicine’s strength describes how much drug the product contains.

One example was semaglutide (Ozempic) tablets for type 2 diabetes: the lowest strength was advertised at $149 a month in September 2026.

Another was tirzepatide (Mounjaro), a type 2 diabetes medicine, advertised from $499 for a 28-day supply in September 2026.

A drug company’s published price is its list price. A cash offer sets a price for someone paying with no insurance. A discount-card price is the price offered through a pharmacy discount program. An insured payment is the share your insurance plan leaves you to pay.

Ask which kind of price appears in the offer and what you personally would pay.

Look past the first payment

A savings card is an offer that lowers an eligible patient’s payment.

As of September 2026, many medicine cash offers and savings cards had terms set to expire on December 31, 2026.

An end date calls for a price recheck; it does not establish what a later offer will be.

Ask for the ongoing payment after an introductory offer. Check whether the quote depends on a long commitment and what cancellation would involve.

Make a like-for-like comparison

Put the same headings beside each offer: care, medicine, tests, delivery, and cancellation. Leave an unanswered cost marked as unknown, so it does not look free.

A question to keep

What is the total ongoing cost, including medicine, tests, and follow-up?
